On April 27, 2018 at the Fairmont Palliser, the Calgary Chapter for Executive Women International (EWI) is holding a fundraiser for their Charity of Choice… Ronald McDonald House!
EWI Calgary’s annual fashion show, Hot Heels, will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta this year (tickets are still available and can be purchased here). The fashion show, which started in the 70’s, is unique in that none of the models are professional. Models are EWI Calgary members and families. This year, RMH families, volunteers and staff are invited to attend and take part in the fashion show too.
“What sets it apart is real women wearing real clothes for everyday life,” says Michelle Goshinmon, an EWI member for over 13 years.
EWI was founded in San Francisco in 1938 and continues to grow in nearly 45 Chapters in major cities in the United States and Canada.
The organization brings together key individuals from diverse businesses for the purpose of; promoting member firms, enhancing personal and professional development, and encouraging community involvement.
The Calgary Chapter of EWI was established in 1964, and is the oldest Canadian Chapter.
One of Michelle’s favourite memories associated with Hot Heels is listening to the stories from charities EWI Calgary helps each year.
“Hearing how our efforts are making a difference… there’s never a dry eye in the house.”
“When I joined EWI it was expressly for an opportunity to meet other like-minded women who wanted to make a positive difference in the community where I live,” says Michelle. “What has kept me here for 13 years are the relationships that I have made and the real, tangible impact on lives of people in our community.”
