Philanthropic spirit is alive in Calgary

Posted on March 27, 2015

Since opening we have seen a huge increase in the number of volunteers that help support sick children and their families directly at the House or through one of our Signature Events. Today, we have on average 50 in-house volunteers per month and over 1,200 event volunteers per year. We would like to extend a 30th Anniversary thank you to each and every one of you. We couldn’t do what we do without the time, compassion and support of our volunteers. It is because of you that more than 20,000 families have found shelter, comfort, support, love and a delicious meal under our roof.

The article below was provided to us by one of our volunteers, Donna Flanagan who sat on the Board of Directors more than 11 years ago. This article, which describes how the Home for Dinner program got started in Calgary is a true testament to the volunteer spirit in this city because today, not only do we usually have one dinner group per night, we have brunch groups on the weekends and sometimes lunch groups during the week. Thanks Calgary for your continued support. It is because of you that we celebrate 30 years of togetherness for families who must travel to our great city to receive the medical care their child needs.
