Running at full occupancy year-round, Ronald McDonald House in Calgary provides a home-away-from-home for families travelling to Calgary for a child’s medical treatment. The House has 27 private family suites, along with a large communal kitchen, play area and craft room for kids, gym, teen room and numerous common living areas.
Last year, 236 families stayed with us for a combined total of 8,129 nights at the House. Families can stay with us for as many days, weeks or months as needed, with an average stay of 32 nights in 2018. Since opening, the House has provided crucial support to thousands of families with seriously ill or injured children.
Families pay just $12 of the $184 per night it costs to operate each family suite. Our amazing donors and funders allow us to cover the $170/night difference, alleviating some of the stress and financial burden placed on the families of sick children who stay with us. Most importantly, these donations help keep families close. Day use passes are also available to families to rest or grab a cup of coffee at no cost.
